ADULT SERVICES DIVISION
TARGETED GANG INTERVENTION (TGI)
The Targeted Gang Intervention (TGI) program provides enhanced supervision of
clients identified as gang members, associates, or affiliates, and are assessed as
high risk to re-offend. Deputy Probation Officers (DPOs) supervise clients on this
caseload by conducting regular home visits, office visits, searches of personal
property, substance abuse testing, and may also use GPS technology to monitor the
highest risk clients. The DPOs work in collaboration with local law enforcement to
enhance supervision and promote a higher degree of community safety. Evidence
based interventions such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), provide the
targeted population with alternatives and strategies to encourage a modification of
their behavior to enhance the likelihood of success in completion of probation
terms; reducing the need for local incarceration/detention or prison commitments.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DUI)
INTENSIVE SUPERVISION
Utilizing grant funding allocated by the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), the Probation
Department provides dedicated Deputy Probation Officers (DPOs) to offer services
to a caseload of clients convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The DUI
Intensive Supervision caseload provides services in the Santa Maria region. These
clients are subject to increased field supervision and office contacts, DUI program
verification activities, searches, routine alcohol testing via the Alco Sensor FST,
warrant apprehension, and the use of Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol
Monitoring (SCRAM). Further, clients on the DUI Intensive Supervision caseload
participate in regularly scheduled Court reviews via a DUI review calendar and
employs graduated sanctions for those clients who are out of compliance.
